I believe that everyone who eats meat/fish/chicken etc should know about where it comes from. Most people take their food for granted, and even waste food, but the fact is that in the case of meat, some animal gave its life so that we could eat a tasty chichen sandwich! I think that if you're not prepared to slaughter and butcher your own meat, maybe you shouldn't eat it. That said, I think that if anyone is considering becoming a vegetarian, they need to be particularly careful that all their nutritional needs are met, especially when you're young and growing heaps! (need more protein!).
What do you think? Please justify your answer.

Yeah. How the animal lived is key.
i agree - we need to pay more respect towards the living creatures we enslave and murder. I believe they have needs and rights that we should consider if we are going to continue to use them for our purposes. It goes further too with things like vivisection and animal testing of human products. Mostly this is unecessary and unthinkably cruel.
It's hard to make all the changes necessary to live an ethically sound life in terms of animal rights, and I certainly don't. However, we can become more aware and make more conscious decisions. Everything little thing we do is a step in the right directrion. Don't just stick your head in the sand and say its too hard or it doesn't matter. It isn't and it does.
:-)
To add to Jannie sue's comments, how animals are transported and killed also matters.
i so agree - but about the end bit with the vegeterians and stuff well mabye they should find or see one of there friends who do free range chickens and if they have lots mabye they could wait till one dies also maybe do the same with cows and stuff?? what do you think A-man???
ashymashy=)
I agree totally about making sure we dont eat tortured animals, but most of the time we either dont have the choice, or we dont know if it has been tortured or not. It is very important that we do eat the right balance of food right now, because if you do turn vegetarian, you need to keep eating other food to keep your body and health up.
we should be allowed to eat them. But should treat the animals nicely and with respect.
i agree to. but i have eaten meat my whole life. i have never known where it comes from either. cool blog post.
are you a vege? i feel sorry for them lol. also, if you visit my blog, kitty milo's blog that's cool is the main one but hamilton is awesome! is also a pretty cool blog. byebye.=]
Yeah I agree with mojo.
We shouldn't have to become vegetarians. But we just need an awareness of how the animals are being treated and that we do something about it if the animals aren't being treated nicely.Learning to be aware how our live food is being treated could be a science leason.
A-Man sorry to bother you about THIS but, you made an error!
'some animal gave its life so that we could eat a tasty chichen sandwich'.
That is an error because you did not specify the type of animal you were referring to at the start and then you started talking about a CHICKEN sandwich when you should've wrote MEAT sandwich.
Anyway...
Who really cares anyway? They aren't smart, they act on instict.
Why would fish and other meat have been created without a purpose?
Everything is created for a reason, the reason for fish and meat is to feed us!!!!!!!!
Take what you get and don't ask for more!
P.S. A Man, you only made your blog a few days ago and you already have more comments on your blog than on mine!
Yes i agree with all of you. We should be able to eat meat as it contains heaps of good nutrients in it, but we need to be very care full of how the animal has growen up and how it has lived.
But its not just meat it is also eggs that we need to be carefull of. Our family only buys free range eggs but as Mr Woody said ones that you get your self off are farm are still much better.
Bye, Snowy
Hey, go and see rosie gals idea about the garden on our main blog....
Bye, Snowy
Thanks everyone for your input, to reply
thanks jannie sue funster.
Thanks Mr Woody, I couldn't have put it better myself.
Hi-de-hi kitty milo!
I think you were talking about eating animals that died by themselves (without humans having to kill them) if so there's a lot of health risks with that because sometimes you don't know why an animal died, it could have been sick, and if humans eat it we might get sick. Also if they die of old age the meat is tough and chewy, and doesn't taste as good either! Thats why teachers like eating little children!!
howzit rosiegal!
Yeah, most of the time we don't know what conditions our food came from, do you think that should change? How could we change that? Personally I don't have much choice anyhow at the moment, as a poor student teacher with a big family to support we can only afford to get whatevers cheapest!! Which probably sometimes means mistreated animals, particularly when it comes to chickens and eggs. Doesn't make a person feel very good.
Kia ora ashymashy!
To answer your question, no I'm not a vegetarian, but I sympathise with vegetarians beliefs a lot. I believe its okay to eat meat as long as you are respectful as you do so. Personally I love a fat steak with a side of mushrooms and an egg!! Protein power!! rar-hahaha!
Shot mojo, I agree 100%
Hey kitty milo, I just went through a massive confusion with your blog site and ashymashys!! Don't ask me how, I don't know! Anyhow I'll visit your site after this!
Gidday roo!
I agree we shouldn't have to become vegetarians. Check out my new question at the bottom.
Cowabunga mech man!
Great, I know who to turn to when I want some editing done!! I'm also am a terrible speller, totally dependant on spellcheck!! Very interesting comment about the purpose or reason for animals being here - "to feed us". In your opinion is that their only purpose? What is your justification?
Hello snowy, you win first prise for best icon/picture thing!! Sounds like we have similar feelings about this concept, cool.
Thanks everyone who's responded so far, and everyone who's about to.
Most vegetarians feel that people shouldn't eat animals because we don't really need to. They usually believe this because they care about animals so much.
An old argument to counter vegetarian view points is that many animals only get a chance at life because humans want to eat them. For example in New Zealand we breed millions of sheep and cows for human consumption. If humans didn't eat meat, none of those animals would exist at all, farmers would use the land for something else.
My question is: Is it better that the animals get a shot at life, even if its short, they're not always treated well, and they get eaten, or is it better if they don't exist at all?
thanx for answering my question mr.a and its so cool to get to talk to everyone about this thanx mr.a!!!
i agree but i think we should know where to draw the line because what about possums! they dont get eaten but they do get killed! the same with rats and mice they get caut in traps all the time! i mean you say its crul to killa chicken or a whale but what about the possums and rats!!!! all animals have feelings. you cant say oh there is lots of possums around and its ok to kill them. what if youn were a possum and you then suddely got caught and then trottled to death! not very nice!!! so... where do we draw the line?.... ants?
